Pass on your values, not just your valuables
Hopefully you've already written your legal will to take care of passing on the value of what you own – your material possessions. But, your ethical will may be even more important.
The most precious thing we can leave behind is not our property. It is our legacy of values and beliefs. An ethical will is intended to give such a spiritual heritage to one's descendants. It is an effort to sum up what we have learned in life and to express what we most want for our loved ones. It can be a means of leaving a personal message for successive generations.
If you want to pass on your values and not just your valuables . . . you may be interested in creating your own ethical will. Many of our clients have found this to be a very meaningful process both for their families and for themselves.
